A new job. A new city. The same old problem. . . A man who won't take "no" for an answer!
Emily Best went to work for her stepfather, and now she's on a mission to prove she's the right woman for the job. There's no time for romance in her life. Not now, and especially not with a player like Spencer.
Spencer Marshall has the reputation of a player, even though he's yet to kiss a girl. But his pride won't let him admit the truth, even when his "reputation" stands between him and the girl of his dreams. Emily Best.
When unexpected attention comes calling, the resulting love triangle could kill any chances of Spencer winning Emily's love.
"If you like Hallmark movies, you'll love The Best Girls!"
"If you're looking for a 'clean' romantic comedy, I recommend this one, without reserve!"
"Easy to pick up, but not easy to put down."

The Best Girls are back, and they're funnier and feistier and more charming than ever. Anne Best is now married to Steven Gherring and her daughter Emily is interning in their company as an accountant. Things are looking up for Anne, but Emily isn't sharing the fun. Spencer Marshall, the guy she met on a rock-climbing gym when she visited her mom for the first time in New York, is back and is also working in Gherring Inc. Just when she decided to live an uncomplicated boring single life, here comes Steven, the unpredictable, daring and heart-stoppingly handsome man who makes her lose control.Steven is known to be player, always seen with a lot of girls around him. Little did they know that he actually hasn't dated anyone or any girl for that matter. He's got lots of girl friends in the hiking club, but he never ever has kissed one, because he's waiting for that one special girl to share it with.
In Best Dating Rules, we meet a lot of new characters and fun personalities. There's Becca, an untrustworthy shameless girl who's got the hots for Spencer; there's also Spencer's four charming and quite boisterous sisters Grace, Claire, Hannah & Olivia; and Brad & Josh, two doctors who have somehow found their way to the Best family. I love all of them, (except for Becca) and I had a great time reading their banters, hoots and loud & crazy convos.
Oh, there are also two little additions to the Best-Gherring family and they're probably going to be my most favorites yet.
Tamie Dearen hits another jackpot with her Best Girls series. She really does know how to make the reader feel happy, tickled in love and satisfied. I always enjoy reading her stories, even the miscommunication among the couples, and most especially the simple but witty dialogues. I look forward to reading Charlie's lovelife next. Woohoo!

Best Dating Rules A Romantic Comedy The Best Girls Book 2 edition by Tamie Dearen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The story of a woman in Texas, who lost her husband 10 years prior, and raised her two daughters by herself.
A friend has told her friend about this woman, and plans are made to get her to answer "a job contest" to become a executive assistant to an extremely wealthy CEO of a large company in New York.
After the interview she is outspoken and wins the CEO's approval and gets hired. Thus begins a comedy of errors as she thinks of herself as somewhat of a matchmaker and she is trying to find someone for her boss. Meanwhile, the boss'es grandmother and others are trying to get her to marry the boss.
Through a series of mistakes and unfortunate timing, Anne becomes aware that she is drawn to the boss romantically, but doesn't think herself worthy of his love so she runs from the scene only to be caught by him, and then marries him, living happily everafter.
After falling in love with Anne in the first book in this series, 'Her Best Match', I was skeptical that the characters and story line in the sequels would live up to the first one. Boy was I wrong! This story surpassed the first one, in my opinion. Perhaps because the characters are a little closer to my age, or the fact that there was a little more action in this one. Whatever the case may be, it worked. My absolute favorite scene was between Charlie and Josh in the living room. I refuse to spoil it, so you'll just have to read it. Hilarious!
This author has been a favorite of mine for quite some time, and this book just moved her up higher on the scale. I can't wait to see what happens with Josh and Charlie in the next book, 'Best Laid Plans'. I hope this author keeps these stories coming, because they are a welcome escape from my often stressful real life.
Emily moves to NYC and takes a job in her stepdad's company, just a few desks down from Spencer, and their relationship progresses through some seriously dramatic ups and downs; all while her mom is having health issues, and her sister Charlie is being even more stubborn than Emily about trusting the man who loves her.
(Though reviews are inherently subjective, I prefer to provide some organization to my opinions through the use of a personal rubric. The following notes may contain spoilers.)
Plot and Setting 3 -- Plot mixes cliche/overly convenient with unique/interesting. Includes a handful of scenes that pull away from the main focus. Plot points in sub-plots are dropped or not resolved. Setting (including timeline) is somewhat unclear or inconsistent. There's too much going on in this one. Not only is this about Emily and Spencer's relationship, but we also have a continuation of Anne and Steven's story, plus the introduction of several other romances that will apparently be wrapped up in books 3 and 4. And while there are interesting and enjoyable aspects to all these stories, the end result is a book that feels unfocused and messy. We also now have 3 romances that are variations on the same theme trying to decide whether to trust a man with a reputation (deserved or not) for being a player. The lack of variety is disappointing. And the timeline is super vague throughout, and sometimes contradictory.
Characters 3 -- Main characters are only partially relatable, realistic, interesting, and/or dynamic. Some minor characters have depth, while others may be slightly stereotyped or simplified. Relationships between characters are not especially well developed, but what is there is generally good. I didn't really connect with any of the characters in this one. There are just a lot of bizarre or outright stupid decisions going around. Emily makes several especially poor decisions, several of which could have ended up killing her. I like Spencer, but his choice to let pride keep him from correcting Emily's misconception of him is plain foolish. There's a range of minor characters, including some definite stereotypes. I did enjoy the bits about Anne and Steven, though.
Mechanics and Writing 3.6 -- A handful of typos, punctuation issues, or word errors. (<16/100 pgs) Some of the errors are mildly confusing. Good use of POV. Generally skillful writing. Errors include compound word and/or homophone confusion (most often mixing up any more and anymore), mild punctuation or formatting issues, some awkward or inconsistent phrases. POV is all 3rd person, but switches between quite a few different perspectives Emily and Spencer, Anne and Steven, Charlie, etc. It's a big change from all-Anne book 1, and I prefer the other way.
Redeeming Value 3.6 -- Partially focused uplifting themes or lessons. Drugs, alcohol, violence, etc, are not glorified. No explicit sex scenes, but plenty of emphasis on physical attraction. Implied moral guidelines for behavior. As with book 1, the characters set some clear sexual boundaries, but lots of time is devoted to describing them ogling each other and kissing. Lessons perhaps include honesty, and being wise, not just innocent.
Personal Enjoyment 3 -- I liked it. It was enjoyable and entertaining. I wouldn’t mind re-reading it someday, but it’s not a priority.
Refreshingly sweet story centered around Emily and Spencer who really need to work on their communication. I was a little frustrated that Emily was hypocritical in not trusting Spencer when she lied to him first, though dark forces (read a scorned woman) plotted against them both. It was also nice that the heroine (and her sister) actually believe in waiting for sex! Not a usual theme nowadays. This is a fun read.
